Barcelona's Dani Alves Agrees Contract Extension Until 2015

| Tuesday, March 22, 2011
Barcelona have reached an agreement with right-back Dani Alves to extend his contract until 2015, the club have stated.

Negotiations between the two parties have been ongoing since January, but no agreement with the 27-year-old had been reached until now, with the new terms being made official on Wednesday.

His old deal expired in the summer of 2012, but the Camp Nou side have moved to ensure he remains a important part of Pep Guardiola's squad.

A statement on the club's official website reads:

"FC Barcelona communicates to have reached an agreement with Dani Alves to extend his contract with the club for another three seasons until June, 30, 2015.

"The signature will arrive on Wednesday at 19:00 CET, and there will be a chance for photographs and a press meeting at the FC Barcelona headquarters."

Chelsea, Manchester City and a hoard of other clubs had been linked with the Brazilian, but now the player has committed his future to the Catalan giants.
